  • Recently, a change was made to the open burn policy.
As long as the mandatory burn permit is obtained from the Elk Bend Fire Protection District, it is no longer necessary to contact the BLM or U.S. Forest Service.
All persons wishing to burn within the District are required to contact the Fire Chief or Commissioner to ensure that the items being burned are legal; a Burn Permit must be issued before before any burning will be allowed within the District.  This is for the protection of all property owners within the District borders, and is to ensure that the District is aware of those persons burning on any given day.  This is so that we can plan the most efficient use of District equipment and personnel.

  • Those wishing to burn should call one of the following (Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ONLY!):
  • Chairman/Unit 1 Commissioner: Clara Evarts, 208-894-2452
  • Unit 2 Commissioner: Janie Bruffett, 208-894-2664
  • Units 3-4 Commissioner: Alvin Bailey Sr., 208-894-2436
  • Fire Chief: Brian Ford, 208-894-4420
  • Secretary: Kathy M. Bailey, 208-894-2436

  • To report a wildfire, call: 1-800-331-4833
